Hayes Elementary is:
  • An International Baccalaureate World School
  • A Minnesota School of Excellence
  • A Magnet School within Northwest Suburban Integration School District

Hayes Elementary School serves students in grades K-4.  Our school received authorization to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) in 2010.  IB World Schools share a common philosophy: a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education that we believe is important for our students. The primary goal of the PYP is to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help create a better and more peaceful world through their action.  PYP provides a framework for organizing curriculum and delivering instruction.

Hello from Hayes Elementary!

My name is Gaeli Iverson and I am the proud principal of Hayes Elementary; an International Baccalaureate (IB) School. Hayes is a beautifully diverse community of learners whom we believe have the knowledge and ability to change the world.

At Hayes our goal is to “empower young people with the skills, values and knowledge to create a better and more peaceful world” (IB.org, 2017). This is through the intentional use of transdisciplinary unit lesson planning and application of best teaching practices and pedagogy.

Through the IB Learning Profile our students at Hayes are: Inquirers, Knowledge Seekers, Thinkers, Communicators, Risk-Takers, Principled, Open-Minded, Caring, Balanced and Reflective practitioners of the local and global world around them.

Being the home of the Giraffes we Stand Tall, Dream Big, Stick Our Necks Out for Others and have Huge Hearts. Our dedicated staff, scholarly students, and supportive families make Hayes Elementary a wonderful place to learn and grow!

Schedule a tour today with the main office to learn more about our academic programs; walk the school and get a feel for what learning is really like at Hayes. I look forward to our time together and the possibility of your child and family joining our tower of giraffes!
